Hyperic Named LinuxWorld Product Excellence Award Finalist in Two Categories
Hyperic CloudStatus and Hyperic HQ Make the Final Cut
San Francisco, Calif. July 30, 2008 – Hyperic Inc., a leading open source web infrastructure management software provider, today announced that two of its products, Hyperic HQ and CloudStatus have been named finalists for the LinuxWorld Product Excellence Awards. Hyperic HQ was named a finalist in the "Best Systems Management" category; the same category it won last year. CloudStatus, a new cloud monitoring service launched just one month ago, was named a finalist for the "Best Grid or Clustering Solution." Hyperic will be demonstrating both products for judges and attendees next week at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in San Francisco in booth #1319.
"We are extremely proud to be nominated as a finalist in not just one, but two categories for the LinuxWorld Product Excellence Awards," said Javier Soltero, Hyperic CEO. "In the last year, we here at Hyperic have focused on innovating and improving our products to help operations teams take control of the increasingly tough challenges posed by new technologies such as virtualization and cloud computing. This recognition validates our efforts."
This year's LinuxWorld Product Excellence Awards represent major areas of innovation in the Linux and open source community. Candidates are judged by a respected panel of industry experts managed by LinuxWorld.com. Winners will be announced during a ceremony at the event on Tuesday, August 5that 4:00 p.m.
The LinuxWorld Conference & Expo runs August 4-7, 2008 at the Moscone Center. Hyperic CEO Javier Soltero will be presenting with Hyperic customer Jonathan Bryce, co-founder of Mosso, on the art of managing virtualization in production. The session is titled, "Virtual Nightmare? Mastering the Management of Virtualization in Production." It will take place on Thursday, August 7th at 11:30 a.m.
Hyperic HQ is open source web infrastructure management software that helps automate and streamline operations for IT. The easy-to-use web portal auto-discovers assets and begins managing infrastructure with one click. The software won "Best Systems Management" during last year's conference. Hyperic will be releasing Version 4.0 of the software later this year.
CloudStatus is the first service to provide an independent view of the health and performance of the most popular cloud on the Internet, Amazon Web Services (AWS). The service gives users the perspective they need to determine the cause of performance changes in their cloud-based web applications. CloudStatus beta is a free service built on the Hyperic HQ management platform and will expand to include additional cloud providers this summer.
